Stafford Beer Dies
Master of cybernetics dies in Toronto at the age of 75.

In the mid 1970's when I was working for the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities Area I read Stafford Beer's book, Platform for Change. It was mind blowing, literally. His most famous book is Brain of the Firm.

I recently ran into a couple of his students at a website at Open Democracy. He died August 23, 2002 in Toronto. An official website is available in his name.

A paper by him entitled World in Torment: A time Whose Idea Must Come may be downloaded in PDF format. A second paper is also available here called Fanfare for Effective Freedom: Cybernetic Praxis in Government also in PDF format.
