World Social Forum Draws 60,000
A gathering in Porto Alegre, Brazil

In Porto Alegre, Brazil, 60,000 people gathered January 31 through February 6, 2002, at the "World Social Forum" to discuss alternatives to global capitalism. This was the second such gathering of people in the wake of the Seattle protests against the World Trade Organization.
